I know, I know.. I feel like everyone now knows how to make this dish but I still wanted to post it because IT IS SO EASY and SO MUCH TASTIER than store-bought.. and you don’t have to worry about preservatives.. so why not? MAKE YOUR OWN… Plus, I learned that you can add for example, an avocado to this recipe and WOW so delish.. or 2 red sweet peppers and WOW so delish.. So here is the classic recipe which you can easily twist with an avocado or 2 peppers… This recipe makes 2 cups of hummus. To make this recipe you will need:

2 cups of chickpeas or one can of chickpeas

3 limes, juiced

2 garlic cloves, peeled

1 tablespoon of kosher salt

1/4 cup of tahiti sauce

1 tablespoon of salt

1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil

about 1/4 cup of water, for consistency

If you use chickpeas that are not canned, leave cover in water overnight. I obviously prefer this because you take away all the yucky chemicals that come with canned veggies… If you use canned chickpeas, rinse them well..


In a blender or food processor, add chickpeas, lime juice, garlic cloves, salt, tahiti, and oil and blend in. I always check the consistency and add a bit of water if its too heavy. Can I say again how much I love my Vitamix blender? Makes PERFECT hummus…

If you have a blender that is not that great, add the chickpeas slowly.. and thats it! At this point you can add your avocado or peppers or leave it as is..


You can serve with paprika and a bit of olive oil… Perfect with veggies or with Baked Kibbehs..
